Ekpeye (Ahoada), Rivers State - A group identified as the Ekpeye Freedom Fighters has called on the Federal and Rivers State Governments to grant amnesty to its members, stating that peace is all the Ekpeye people want now.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the group appealed for a peaceful resolution to the security challenges in the area and requested that music executive, Soso Soberekon and Grammy-winning artiste, Burna Boy be appointed as mediators in the peace process.
The group emphasized that Ekpeye, the 3rd largest ethnic group in Rivers State predominantly in Ahoada West and Ahoada East Local Government Areas, desires lasting peace and development.
They are urging the government and relevant stakeholders to consider their request in the interest of stability and progress in Ekpeye land.
Peace is all Ekpeye wants.

It is so encouraging to hear that our brothers who have lived in the bush over the years are now seeking amnesty. Government at all levels should use this opportunity to hearken to their request.
