Chairman, Governing Board of the South-South Development Commission, Chibudom Nwuche, has charged women in Rivers State to use their passion, organisational capacity and community networks to strengthen the campaigns for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and election of the State All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Kingsley Chinda, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said women’s role in politics and the electoral process could not be overemphasised, saying they make significant contributions to political mobilization and democratic development.
Nwuche, a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives gave the charge during the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation and Voter’s Sensitisation programme with the theme, ‘My PVC my Power’ in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
This was as the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State re-affirmed its support for the Rainbow Coalition, a political strategy initiated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Represented by Mr Ajugo Kingdom, Nwuche said the grassroots constitute the foundation of every successful political movement, saying no political organisation can achieve sustainable success without meaningful engagement with the people.
He said, “Through your passion, organisational capacity, community networks, and leadership, you make significant contributions to political mobilisation, voter education, civic participation, and democratic development.
“The 2027 Presidential election is about 120 days away. Every day must therefore be used productively to strengthen our organization (APC), engage our communities, sensitise voters and build the relationship necessary for success,” he said.
Nwuche encourage them to approach the responsibility with dedication, discipline, integrity, and a clear understanding of the importance of their contributions.”
In his speech, the State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, said the ruling party stands with the Rainbow Coalition, insisting that the platform which is campaigning massively for the Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
