Celebrating Ekpeye Culture by Investing in the Next Generation
OKOGBE, Rivers State — As the Ogwu Ekpeye Festival officially begins today, UZUGBANI EMENE OKOGBE Worldwide has flagged off the celebration with an education-focused community outreach in Okogbe.
The socio-cultural organization distributed exercise books to pupils and students of Community Primary School and Igbuduya Community Secondary School, Okogbe, reaching approximately 1,000 learners.
The outreach, according to the group, is part of its commitment to ensure that the celebration of Ekpeye culture goes beyond festivities to make direct impact on the people, especially children and youths who represent the future of Ekpeye heritage.
The organization noted that Ogwu Ekpeye remains a significant expression of Ekpeye cultural identity, unity and heritage, and that investing in education is a vital way of preserving and advancing that heritage.
The initiative was anchored on four pillars: Culture, Education, Unity and Community Development.
