It was a historic and spiritual milestone on Sunday, October 18, 2026, as Prof. Chinedu Ogwus and his wife, Amb. Dr. Ekwutoziam Ogwus Chinedu, alongside their children and extended family, dedicated a new edifice of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Edeoha Parish in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The church dedication, conducted by His Eminence, Most Rev. Dr. Ekpenyong Nyong Akpanika and the Niger Delta Synod of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, formally consecrated the building for worship and service to God.
The ceremony drew a large gathering of traditional rulers, political stakeholders, clergy, family members, friends and well-wishers from within and outside the community.
Among the traditional rulers present were the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, His Imperial Majesty Eze Sir (Amb.) Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, Ph.D., DSSRS, ACTI, FNIM, MNIMN, SFALPP, JP, AP, and His Majesty King (Amb.) Noble Friday Uwoh, Eze Igbu-Ehuda IV, the Supreme Monarch of the Ancient Ahoada Kingdom (Igbu Ehuda), as well as other traditional rulers and community leaders.
Relatives who travelled from far and near to witness the dedication included Engr. Ndubuisi Azuka Utulu and Dr. Chika, among others. The Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Trans Amadi Branch, was represented by a delegation led by Pastor Steve Osiago.
For the Ogwus family, the dedication was an act of thanksgiving and fulfillment — offering the edifice to Christ as an expression of faith, gratitude and commitment to the kingdom of God.
Beyond the spiritual significance, the occasion highlighted the philanthropic contributions of Prof. Chinedu Ogwus and Amb. Dr. Ekwutoziam Ogwus Chinedu to their community, particularly in education support, youth participation in sports, and humanitarian outreach to widows and less privileged persons.
Amb. Dr. Ekwutoziam Ogwus Chinedu is a businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Chief Executive Officer of Ekash Collections and Vice President of the Ogwus Youth Empowerment and Community Development Organization (OYECDO). She is also an aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives seat for Ahoada East/Abua-Odual Federal Constituency on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Speaking at the event, family members described the new church as a seed of faith intended to serve as a centre of worship, prayer, fellowship and Christian growth for the congregation and future generations.
The dedication of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Edeoha Parish, is expected to stand as a centre of prayer, peace, unity and hope for the community.
