Uzugbani Ekpeye President-General Calls for Peace, Forgiveness, Unity

The President-General of Uzugbani Ekpeye, Dr. Ihuowo Alabo M. FCNA (JP), has called on Ekpeye people to embrace peace, forgiveness and unity in the interest of the development of the Ekpeye Ethnic Nation.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Dr. Alabo expressed concern over social media comments, particularly on the Uzugbani Ekpeye platform, which he said contradict the organization's founding principle of building love, oneness and service among Ekpeye people.

He noted that the leadership was not unaware of the challenges associated with service to the fatherland, describing developments after the delegates election and the main election as unsurprising.

"We plead to all concerned to be patient with us and allow peace to reign. Meaningful development is faster in peace than in rancor and bitterness," he said, assuring that every impasse on the progress of Ekpeye would be resolved amicably.

Dr. Alabo reaffirmed the organization's high esteem for the Eze Ekpeye stool and the traditional institution, as well as respect for political leaders representing the people in government, describing both organs as vital to the promotion and articulation of Ekpeye aspirations.

He warned against attempts to pitch the traditional institution against political leaders, urging those fueling disunity to desist.

"Uzugbani Ekpeye can only achieve its purpose with the strong support of the Traditional Institutions and the Political leaders, Captains of industries, critical stakeholders, our Brothers and Sisters in diaspora etc. We should not demonize ourselves for the sole purpose of creating disunity in the land," he stated.

The President-General said the challenges facing Ekpeye are not insurmountable and called on those generating hate on social media to stop and embrace positive contributions to development.

"If you love Ekpeye, find and suggest positive solution(s) to the numerous issues confronting the well-being of the people rather than being mere critics," he said.

He declared that disagreements in Ekpeye are now in the past, pledging to work for the integration of all citizens into what he described as the Biblical Noah's Ark of unity and development, the core objective of Uzugbani Ekpeye.

"As a Christian, I believe in the power of forgiveness as no one is perfect. Let us forgive one another and forge ahead," he added.
