A new contender has officially entered the race for the Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Irene Chinembudu Job, on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2026, formally declared her candidacy for the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at Ogbo, in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The declaration, which took place in her home community in Igbu Akoh Kingdom, was marked by the presentation of her Certificate of Return from the NDC, confirming her as the party's flagbearer for the constituency.
Addressing supporters and community leaders, Hon. Job described the moment as historic for Igbu Akoh.
"Wednesday, November 3rd, 2026, will go down as a historic day for Igbu Akoh Kingdom, particularly Ogbo and Igbu Agwa," she said. "A daughter of the soil is on the ballot!"
According to her, the constituency has seen representation from Ahoada, Upata, and Abua — with Abua holding the seat for 12 years — while Igbu Akoh is yet to produce a House of Representatives member.
"For the first time, Igbu Akoh has the opportunity to produce a House of Representatives candidate. I believe this is an appointed moment for Igbu Akoh to step forward and take its place in the history of our constituency," she stated.
Hon. Job called for a peaceful and credible democratic process, noting that no form of manipulation or intimidation should undermine the people's right to choose their representatives.
She appealed to indigenes and residents of Ahoada East and Abua/Odual to support her candidacy and the NDC's agenda to "RESET OUR GREAT STATE" and build a future anchored on accountability, inclusion and service.
"Together, we have a responsibility to build a future anchored on accountability, inclusion and service to the people. No community will be left behind," she added.
The declaration has continued to generate reactions across the constituency, with supporters describing her emergence as a significant shift in the political dynamics of the federal constituency.
