The Orashi National Congress (ONC) has marked the 74th birthday of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, with visits to orphanage homes and care centres across the state.
As part of a two-day birthday programme organised in honour of the Deputy Governor, who is the Grand Patroness of the ONC, the Congress delegation visited selected homes where they donated food items and cash gifts.
The homes visited include Azibalua Children's Home, Plot 261, Amadi Ama Layout, Port Harcourt; Jesus the Last Bus Stop, Edeoha in Ahoada East Local Government Area; Kingdom Grace International Gospel Centre, Omoku and Akabuka.
Presenting the items, the ONC delegation said the gesture was to celebrate Prof. Odu’s life and years of dedicated service by extending love and support to vulnerable children and the less privileged in society.
The visits were filled with excitement as children at the various homes sang, danced and offered special prayers for the Deputy Governor, wishing her good health, long life and greater success in her service to Rivers State and humanity.
Management of the benefitting homes expressed gratitude to Prof. Odu for remembering the children on the occasion of her birthday, describing the intervention as a demonstration of compassion and genuine concern for the welfare of vulnerable children.
They commended the Deputy Governor for her motherly kindness and prayed for more fruitful years ahead.
The ONC delegation, on behalf of the Deputy Governor, reaffirmed the values of compassion, community support and inclusive development.
The outreach is part of activities lined up to honour Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, under the leadership of the President-General of Orashi National Congress, Amb. Comr. Emeni Ibe, JP, AP.
