In a bid to promote education and support learning at the grassroots, renowned philanthropist, Bob Festus and his group, De Crusaders, have donated exercise books to primary and secondary schools in Ihuowo Community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The donation exercise, which took place at Ihuowo Community, saw pupils and students receive notebooks to aid their academic activities.
Speaking during the presentation, Bob Festus said the gesture was part of De Crusaders' commitment to giving back to society and investing in the future of children. He noted that education remains the bedrock of development, and no child should be left behind due to lack of basic learning materials.
According to him, "We understand the challenges parents face in providing school materials for their children. This little support is to encourage our children to take their studies seriously and to show them that their community cares about their future."
Receiving the items on behalf of the schools, the head teachers and principals expressed gratitude to Bob Festus and De Crusaders for the kind gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They said the notebooks would go a long way in easing the burden on parents and motivating the students.
Community leaders and parents of Ihuowo also lauded the group, calling on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the initiative.
The pupils and students, in excitement, thanked the donors and promised to make good use of the materials for improved academic performance.
The donation is one of several humanitarian interventions by De Crusaders in Ekpeye land, aimed at youth development and community advancement.
