Fubara/Wike: O.N.C Condemn Rivers Elders Decision

The Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria and the Orashi National Congress, in a press conference held in Port Harcourt today, strongly criticized the position taken by a select group of Rivers Elders regarding the apparent conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the FCT, Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. They expressed their unwavering support for Deputy Governor Proff Ngozi Ordu and Speaker Rt Hon Edison Ehie for their loyalty to the state governor.

The joint statement, signed by Most Snr Comrade Emeni Ibe, President General of both organizations, criticized the Elders' stance as misguided. They raised concerns about the Elders' language and their attempt to tarnish the character of Rt Hon Edison Ehie, who is known for his peacekeeping efforts and outstanding legislative work.

The statement also questioned the composition of the Rivers Elders, as several prominent figures were absent from the gathering. It emphasized that the people's support for Chief Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike should not be misinterpreted as an attack on Proff Ngozi Ordu and Rt Hon Edison Ehie, who are esteemed figures in the state.

The leadership of the Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria and the Orashi National Congress called for a ceasefire and urged all parties to allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara the opportunity to succeed in his role. They expressed unswerving support for the Governor, Deputy Governor, and the Speaker.

Furthermore, the statement appreciated Rt Hon Edison Ehie for standing against the alleged plot and commended the youths, especially the Ijaws, for their resilience. They also appealed for the release of arrested youths and stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law.

Signed by Most Snr Comrade Emeni Ibe,

National President, Southern Youth Foundation of Nigeria,

and President General, Orashi National Congress.
