PARAMOUNT RULER KILLED IN AHOADA WEST, FAMILY FIXES FEB.3RD FOR BURIAL

Chief Innocent Ekwereogwu, paramount ruler of Anwunugbokor community in Ahoada west LGA of Rivers State has being gunned down by unknown gunman on January 1st, 2024.

Chief Ekwereogwu who is also the chairman, Igbu Ubie Council of traditional rulers and Chiefs was shot dead at about 8:49 pm in his Ahoada residence.

His wife, Mrs Charity Innocent while confirming the incident said, her husband was taken water from kitchen in order to wash hands for dinner before his killer shot him through the netted window; he thudded to the ground.

" I shouted for help, but nobody came out because of fear of the gun; I ensured that I took him to the clinic that night, where he died due to inadequate medical care", she said.

She added that the burial is fixed for 3rd February 2024; she enjoyed the public to attend.

However, investigation revealed that many of the residents of his community held a clandestine party, where they danced and drank, claiming that they have succeeded in pushing him off the throne.

Recall that Chief Ekwereogwu is deeply in a running chieftaincy tussle with his community, who wanted him to vacate the stool of Eze nwe Ula, but an attempt which he vehemently resisted with a claim that his tenure is life time.

It was also gathered that he returned from a chieftaincy coronation at Ula Ubie community , where he featured as an important figure in Ubie clan that fateful evening
